NATURE IN ALL HER SPLENDOUR CHALLENGE

I stopped by Helen Tilbury's blog and noticed that Helen was hosting a Challenge for this website http://scrapbookchallenges.ning.com/. There was at least 19 items that you had to collect and use on your page, quite challenging but fun also.

This was the requirements of the Challenge including what I have used.

) Seeing as it's Easter & all, you need to create a layout documenting YOUR FAITH, YOUR BELIEFS or just a PHILOSOPHY THAT YOU LIVE BY... "I live by being kind to people and expect this in return.

2) Use craft paper as your backing base - I used this from paper packagine and cut half circles to make it a bit more decorative.
3) Use flowers on your layout
4) Use eyelets on your layouts
5) Use PLAIN BRADS - colored pink tone
6) Photo/s must be taken OUTDOORS
7) Your patterened paper can only be strips - I used off cuts but not in all small sizes.
8) Hand-journaling
9) Use a decorative border punch -
10) Use an old book page - I used the children running to symbolise Mothers Day
11) IF you want (this is the only optional part of this challenge :)) you can use THREE NEW EMBELLISHMENTS just to bring your layout up to date! I have used 1 BG Chipboard bird and two Fancy pants rubons.
12) Use PAINT on your layout - I used pink paint over the back ground.
13) STAMP on your page using something from AROUND THE HOUSE - I useed a salad bowl I recently was given at a take away shop. I used both the top and the bottom with the paint getting two diffent size circles.
14) Use ANY TYPE OF FABRIC, BANDAGING OR GAUZE on your layout - Pink Muslin
15) Use a TAG bought or hand-made - mine is from domr Pj's I purchased
16) Use something weird you wouldn't normally put on a layout ( I used a soda can that I recycled by using die cutting them and embossing them into banners) scrapbooking)
17) Use staples or paperclips - one or more
18) Use TWINE or string/embroidery floss...
19) TEAR some paper on your layout

OMG that was long winded, I think this took longer than the challenge typing it all in. Thanks for looking and I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Color Combos Galore 189

This weeks palette was all about pastels and shimmer, can't say pastels are my favourite colors so I had to dig deep for this one. The picture I decided to use was one of my DD's, back in the day when they had basinettes. I think my mum must have taken this photo while she was babysitting.

Unfortunately it has rained all Easter here so the photo does not show any of the colours or the shimmer from the Tattered Angels. I have listed products below.

I decided to go with a Kraft background from Hambley. Patterned papers are Fancy Pants, Imaginisce and K & Company. I matted my photo on some Basic Grey flat cardstock which was a very pale pink which is what the color code was, but after I Glimmer misted it looks more pink rather than Chicky Pink. I framed around the photo using Magic Dotti that I also glimmer misted using Cherub Pink this seemed more of a match for the Chicky Pink I then overlayed with the Robins Egg blue and stitched it all down. The word Months is from Li'l Davis glitter range I also inked with a blue and the chipboard number 3 was glimmer misted along with the Dusty Attic swirls.

Flowers are from Prima, the large ones are a very pale peach color and the others seemed to match the Pink Chicky.

Thanks for looking and for any comments that you may leave. Hope you enjoyed checking out my pages for this week.

How Much is Too Much?

I really enjoyed doing the last challenge over at HMITM and I was stoked when Debbie dropped in on my blog and mentioned to me that I had been selected as the Winner.

We are pleased to announce Fi as our HAITA winner for Challenge #168 (What's in a Name?). We adore her gorgeous design and amazing attention to detail. The colors, the beautiful photo, the journaling all enhance the story Fi told on her exquisite page!

Congratulations, Fi! You have been added to our How Awesome Is Too Awesome? Hall of Fame!

If you haven't checked out this blog, hop along and check it out, its a great challenge site, not only getting you to reach in and use up that stash but to also scrap photos you possibly wouldn't. Well this is my page for this fortnights challenge and after photographing it I realised that I had forgotten to put my bullet points on, whoops too late now...lol

Challenge #169 - Three Ring Circus {April 11 - April 24}
Janet here with this week's challenge: Three Ring Circus. It feels like a Three Ring Circus sometimes and I'm sure that's true with most of you.

* This week I want you to use a picture that is humorous, this picture is of my DS last easter, and as usual when wanting to take a photo of my teens I have to have the silly face as well. LOL

* 3 circles or rings on it, I used cogs as my circles.

* 3 bullet points and, I forgot to use these.

* 3 patterned papers, packaging from Websters Fashion, Senic Route and MME

* Anything you use keep it in the number 3 ( photos can be any amount). I used a transparency with 3 frames, 3 banners to hold my title, 3 different font stickers, I cut 3 different coloured lanterns that I folded over at the top & bottom of the page cut from Websters paper. Pink Paisley twine was used to create the background. Other products used are Jo Sonja paint, stitching, ink and FPants rubons.

Color Combos Galore 188

The colours this week inspired me to do a vintage page with a touch of elegance. My DD took a camera on a school excursion at Gold Rush Eureka when she was 10, between her and friends they did manage to get a few good shots. The film was a black and white but when I picked them up they had been printed out in sepia, perfect for this weeks colours as well.

I used some old MM Jigsaw range chipboard, I altered these by covering, inking and spritzing with glimmer mist. Then decorated with lots of little bits from my stash. Background is cardstock that I dry embossed with hearts and inked. Photo mat is Bling Bazzill Diamond. Flowers are cut from a Bella paper and for some reason the top spray has photographed a lot lighter than the bottom. I have popped 2 tags in behind two of photos for my DD to journal on. I hand stitched some hearts in taupe DMC thread. Other Chipboard is from Dusty Attic and Elements Collection. Mini Doily's are Matha Stewarts. Color Combos Galore & XOXO Scraplift Challenges

This week my friend Tracee [aka Stresstickled] and I decided to pick a challenge for each other, our pick was http://truexoxogirls.blogspot.com/ and we each picked a layout that we thought was completely different to each of our styles. Tracee picked for me "Lipstick Girls Michelle Hernandez" layout, this is so completely different to my style and I will just leave it at that. I had the colors picked out for the CCG Palette 187 so I thought I would combine these two challenges. This is my interpretation of Michelle's layout.

For the Background I have used K & Co Wild Asparagus, I punched holes as my doodling, stamped with a Kaiser stamp and my spots are glossy accents and micro beedz. I layered strips of papers from scraps out of my stash, these where then and stamped, punched or inked. The photos are of my son coming out of the water after knee boarding.

Other products used: Pink Paislee Twine, Senic Route Chipboard, Sizzix die cuts, rubons, transparencies.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for looking.

How Much is Too Much?

I have been checking this blog out for a little while but hadn't had a chance to play along until now. I don't usually get to scrap pages about myself, mostly because I always forget to have photo's taken of myself. I found this one which was taken whilst watching my son play football, its not exactly the best photo, but I suppose it is me most days.

The Challenge was to scrap about YOURSELF, specifically, journal about your name--do you like it, hate it, have nicknames, etc.? Anything about your name is fair game!

Write down the letters in your name, and use items on your page that begin with each of those letters (could be the generic name of the thing or a brand). Use: 3 - three-word title 28 - items (at least)

So here's hoping I did this correct.

F - Flowers kaiser & Websters cutouts, Fancy Pants patterned paper & Rubons, Flourish chipboard, Fancy Pants covered chipboard banner, Fairy's
I - Ink around the edges of flourish, cutouts and journalling
O - Once Upon a Time papers by Graphic 45, Origins patterned paper by Basic Grey
N - Neighbour Hood banner sticker by Crate paper
A - Acetate

3 Word Title - Fiona or Fi?

I am pretty sure I have used 28 items on my page. I have also used one of the Sketch's from Pencilines this month.

Thanks for looking.

Color Combos Galore 186

This weeks Colour Challenge was to do some layering. I used a picture of my DD when she was two. As you can see by her picture her skin is very fair and I was trying to encourage her to wear a hat outside when she played. However after popping the hat on her I would turn my back for a moment only to find that she would remove it again. This particular day I just happened to take a snap of her expression when she removed it..the look says it all.

For this Palette I used papers from Pink Paislee, Websters & Making Memories. The gray stumped me a little, mine was printing with a slight olive tone and the name of the colour was Smokin Hot Gray so I used two grays to cover me. Jo Sonja Dove Gray paint and the Pink Paislee doilies that I cut from paper are a sort of Olive Grey and matched with my palette printout. I used a Tattered Angels stamp with the paint and stamped on the background cardstock, then layered all my cutouts from Prima Gabrielle & Basic Grey Gypsy. I spritzed some Foofala canvas flowers and layered these as well however these look a lot more turquoise in the picture. I used teal ink for the butterfly and then blinged it up with glitter. Transparencies is from Hambly the other one is a digital download that I used.

PAPER CRAFTS BIRTHDAY BASH

Well what an exhausting weekend. Between my sons football, gym and crafting I am wondering if I had a weekend after all...lol

Kristi B over at Paper Secrets let me host one of the challenges over there and I also thought it would be great to join in and give the challenges ago.

I went with the scavenger hunt first, we had to get together the list of products posted in the challenge, then scrap them. So whilst scrambling around grabbing together the requirements I also had to make sure that I would also be able to work with them. Then the task of finding a photo of me when I was kid...this is probably relatively easy for some, but for me I also shared my Birthday with my older brother and to top it off, it was the day after Christmas. By this time most people were a little bit over the celebrations, I am thinking this is why their is not a lot of photos.

However I found my baby book and was able to scan a picture taken of me and brother is no where in sight...lol

I also took on the Recycle challenge. Every 1/4 I receive a kit with cosmetics, after my nearly 17yr old DD opened and sampled everything I discovered their was some lovely packaging that would be perfect for a recycling job, I also found pastic packaging in the recycle bin and some aluminum soft drink cans. I thought this was going to be a quick and easy project, certainly did end that way.

I had some sort of idea that I wanted to turn these pretty packaging envelopes into a mini book. As for the plastic packaging I used that to make tags that would slide into the envelopes for extra journalling or photo mats. I used black cardstock and made an accordion base to hold each of the envelopes. I opened the envelopes up so that I could cover the fronts and stitch these down without stitching the envelopes closed. I stamped the plastic tags with stazon and used one of the new lines from Pink Paislee stitching through all layers.

I used Making Memories definition stickers to cover up the company name that was printed over the packaging. Ribbon was spritzed with Glimmer Mist and I embossed the metal shim, cutting it up and using it throughout the booklet. I did plenty of stitching, inking, distressing, punching and glittering I was more than happy with my recycled project.

And last but not least I did an altered project - the box I used is a tampon box that would have normally been thrown into the bin, I covered with Websters Hollywood Vogue, painted, stamped and glittered with this being my end result. I was hoping to add a mini book but I will add that later.

Well I hope you enjoyed looking at my projects and if nothing else I hope they inspired you in some way.

Bye for now.
Fi

Paper Secrets Manufacturers Challenge

Paper Secrets March Manufacturers Challenge. I was hoping to get a few others done but have been working on the Birthday Bash challenges instead.

For this page I used a Prima Paper for the background and some scraps from Creative Imaginations and Websters.

The photo matt is a die cut paper and I have used Kaiser rhinestones around the edge scallop. I used the Making Memories border sticker to create the photo corner and MM canvas stickers which I have painted with Tim Holtz crackle paint, inked and kindy glitzed for some added bling. Paper flowers are cut from Websters and I used the TH die cut for the other flower. Also used clear border sticker from Pink Paislee.
